Thanks for visiting the Fry Music website. You'll find all sorts of information here! Above, there are tabs to click on and learn more about your children's grade level. You can also catch updates about what we are learning in general music class.
If you arrived at this page through a QR scanner code, you must have been at Curriculum night! Thanks for stopping by my room. I hope you'll join us in February at Open House for a closer look at the music room.
While the curriculum of each grade is listed under the tabs, you should know that each grade experiences the same concepts year by year. Each grade takes what they learned the year before and expands with new challenges. We measure this growth yearly by having the children read short rhythms and melodies. These assessments make up a portion of your child's grade, with participation in the daily classes adding another portion.
At the top of this page, you'll find some wonderful website links for your family to enjoy. Learn about note names at the Classics for Kids website, or take a tour through the instruments in the New York Philharmonic instrument room. There are fun interactive music games to play on the Music Tech Teacher website too.
Mr. Martinez is my student teacher here from Illinois State University. He will be teaching part of the time through October 12. He is interested in music education, as well as special education. The children are enjoying the creative lessons he has shared with them.
CHORUS! It is open to all 4th and 5th graders who love to sing, and it begins next week on Tuesday, September 18th in the lunch room. Please have your sign up form turned in by this Friday. Chairs will be set up for the children, and names will be on a seating chart for them to get to the right place. We will sing and begin to learn how to be a chorus member.
4TH GRADE ORFF ENSEMBLE! The children will receive a slip home today (Thursday, September 13th) that inform them if they were drawn to be in the fall round of Orff Ensemble. The rehearsals for the Orff kids begin on September 17th, at 7:50 in the music room.
